WEEK 3

Player 3D Model Creation

  • I started creating a base mesh of the player's 3D model using Blender.

  • I also started rigging the model.

  • I try to create some clothes using the Blender's cloth modifiers but instead encounters several problems.

WEEK 4

First Meeting With Our Supervisor

  • Before conducting our first meeting, Dr. Ibrahim wanted to see our storyboard.

  • Therefore we discuss about our storyboard on discord. Our game designer, Fatin Aqilah, will translate our discussion on to a piece of paper and create a storyboard.

WEEK 5

Presenting Our First Prototype

  • We met our supervisor on Friday, 10 am.

  • We presented our game prototype on YouTube.

  • Dr. Ibrahim give some critics and improvement but for the most part, he is impressed.

WEEK 6

Scraping The Player Model And Creating The Monster Model

5.png
  • The player model will be scrap because we thought that since our game is in first-person view, it is useless to create a player model and time resource can be redirected elsewhere towards more meaningful task.

  • I started making the base mesh of the monster and modified the mesh in Blender's Sculpting workspace.

WEEK 7

Texture Painting The Model

  • I started texture painting by create an UV map of the 3D model first.

  • Then I unwrapped the UV map and start applying the materials.

  • After that I started painting the model while adjusting the incorrect vertices of the model.

  • Texture painting takes 3 to 4 days.

  • Finally, the texture can undergo texture baking to produce a texture map that can be use in the game engine.

WEEK 8

Animating The Model

  • The monster is rigged and animated in Blender

  • I have created 3 animation state:

    • Idle state animation

    • Walking state animation

    • Attack state animation

WEEK 9

Troubleshooting Blender's FBX Export Problem

  • This is the week that almost broke me.

  • The base mesh is complete, the textured is mapped and the animation is completed.

  • But when it comes to exporting, that is when trouble comes.

  • Apparently, Blender has a known problem for a while when exporting 3D model to a .FBX file format which is use to render 3D model in a game engine.

  • When importing the model to the game engine, the texture is missing and the head is elongated.

  • For 5 straight days and sleepless nights, with a dozen or more of exports settings combination, formats, and redesigns, finally the model can be exported with the textures but the skull is still elongated but not much.

  • After the ordeal, I zipped the file and send it to my teammates.

WEEK 10

Modelling The Keris

  • After I was done with the monster model, I proceed with modeling the keris

  • The keris model is much less complicated than the monster model, so I have finish the model in 1 day and finish texture baking and exporting the other day.

  • After completing the model, I zipped it and send the file to my teammates.

Designing Our Group's
T-Shirt and Poster

  • As required, all teammates need to presents their own T-Shirt design to their supervisor.

  • My T-Shirt has a minimalist design with our game title on the front right chest area and our group's name is placed at the lower back of the T-Shirt.

  • I also design 2 of our game poster.

  • The first design took inspiration from an old dirty paper with black ink with a keris and our game title.

  • The second design is a 3D rendered scene from Blender of our in-game keris model on a table with some dust particle at night,

  • Later, we compile all of our group's T-Shirt designs and posters and send it to our supervisor to be evaluated.

WEEK 12

Supervisor's T-Shirt And Poster Design Selection

  • This week, Dr. Ibrahim will give us his T-Shirt design selection.

  • He prefer the front design of Syahir's T-Shirt.

  • He also prefer the back design of Qaisyah's   T-Shirt.

  • To conclude, Dr. Ibrahim want us to combine the design and tidy up the design a little bit.

  • As for the poster, Dr. Ibrahim chose my second poster design but needs some adjustment.
